Go Out

Go Out in Phoenix with Samuel Anthony

1.) How long have you been in your city? When did you first visit your city?

I first visited Phoenix to see my god parents when I was just a baby. However my parents and brother moved out here about 12 years ago, which brought me out here more often. I ultimately wanted to be closer to my family and have been living in Phoenix on and off for the past 5 years.

2.) Where should people stay and visit?

Stay at the Omni in Scottsdale, and come hungry! We have really been blessed with an incredible food scene in the valley. Some local favorites are North Italia and The Henry!

3.) Give us a tour of your gayborhood?

Phoenix is a little different as its gay spots are all over town, as opposed to one central area. There are a couple fun dive bars near by, but when we are going out we usually drink too much and go to Charlie’s.

4.) Where do gentlemen go for brunch?

I do love me some brunch. One of my favs is Chelsea’s Kitchen. They have a wonderful outdoor patio space and are very gay friendly.

5.) What’s a hidden gem?

The Little Woody. It’s just as glorious as it sounds, a dimly-lit bar with FAB drinks, games and a fun mixed crowd.

6.) What’s your favorite restaurant in the city?

Right now it’s North Italia….get the pasta, you’re welcome.

7.) What’s your perfect day in Phoenix?

It starts with waking up and walking the boys, followed immediately by açaí bowls from Nektar on Indian School. From there we head to Camelback Mountain for a hike and of course since I can’t stop eating, grab lunch at Chestnut…all the salads are delicious, but Erik prefers the sandwiches. Next we stroll over to my brothers house to play with our nuggets (the neice and nephew), before heading to North Italia for a dinner date. Dates are my favorite so we drag it out by heading to the movies at Fashion Square. It’s newer, clean and the seats recline…and last but not least, we come home…have a drink, change…and dance at Charlie’s until 4am. Who wants to join. 😉
