Go Out LA

Go Out in LA with Gil Correa

1.) How long have you been in your LA?

It’s been 4 years since I moved to LA.

When did you first visit your city?

I first came to LA in 2013 and I knew that was where I was going to move next!

2.) Where should people stay and visit?

The great thing about Los Angeles is that it provides us with almost everything we could look for. There is everything for all needs and tastes. If you are looking to experience more of the gay scene in LA, West Hollywood is an excellent area to be. You will be close to popular bars and nightlife, relatively close to the beach (i.e. Santa Monica, Marina del Rey or Malibu) and to other gay areas such as Silverlake and Downtown if you don’t mind driving or Uber. For daytime activities there is also museums (LACMA) or Theme Parks(Disney and Universal), and if you wanna get into fitness touristic mood, Runyon Canyon and Griffith Park provide a good hike and an excellent view of Los Angeles and Hollywood sign.

There must be something in my face that dogs can’t resist lol

3.) Give us a tour of your gayborhood?

I live right in between Hollywood and West Hollywood which makes me close to everything. In one side I have access to the busy style of hollywood, it’s stores and touristic attractions, walk of fame and Runyon Canyon. On the other side I am right in the middle of a pink bubble of West Hollywood where you see rainbow flags everywhere and gentlemen are free to love without fear and be who they really are. It’s a nice (sometimes busy) area and close to everything I need.

4.) Where do gentlemen go for brunch?

When it comes to brunch West Hollywood may be the mother of all brunches, there are many places to meet your friends and get the so famous “Sunday Funday” started. Kitchen 24 seems one of the most popular places for it and if you are close to that pool party or want to eat more clean, fresh corn and Grill is also there and provides many simple, healthy and delicious options for food. Also Tortilla Republic has the best Jalapeño Margarita I’ve tasted in Weho.

5.) What’s a hidden gem?

For me who enjoys some yoga, 9 treasures yoga is a great place for those who wants to experience a good breathwork class and get the day started in an excellent mood! It is located right in West Hollywood.

6.) What’s your favorite restaurant in the city?

That’s a tough question since I like food so much! I can use some good space to talk about it although my taste for food is not as good as my memory for places I’ve been. One great place that I enjoyed being was Bacaro LA, they always serve great food and are always bringing new dishes to the table (literally). Can’t wait to get back.

7.) What’s your perfect day in Los Angeles?

My perfect day in the City is when I am able to have a slow morning, being able to spend quality time with people I love. Going to the beach, exercising together, having dinner or going out to dance. When you have people you love around you, everything else becomes perfect.
